Students attending TM Forum training classes around the globe often have similar, and different, expectations of the courses. Their expectations often reflect trends in the industry or an area of the world and/or challenges that they are facing. As we, the TM Forum instructors, trek around the world we will be reporting on these trends and challenges, along with any other interesting items that come up during our travels.
On a recent Solution Frameworks Overview and eTOM Implementer’s training assignment in Wellington there were attendees from a South African greenfield operator. Yup, traveled all the way to Wellington from Jo’burg. They were interested in using the frameworks as a guide to establishing a service-oriented approach to their enterprise application architecture. The recent work done within the Integration Framework around business services and categorization of business services was of great interest to them.
All the attendees were very interested in the new Information Framework (SID) and coming Business Process Framework (eTOM) compliance certification programs, as well as how to make the transition to using the SID and eTOM. All were also quite interested in using as many of the frameworks as possible in the development of applications and found that using the eTOM as a source for functional requirements quite interesting.
