Hello everyone,
A subject that continually causes controversy (especially amongst the instructors) is that of perceived repetition on some of our course material. For example: Frameworx Overview (the Business Process Framework part), Business Process Framework Distilled and the Business Process Framework Implementers Workshop have all been developed from the same base material, and some slides are used in each course. Albeit that the instructor will be delving a bit deeper into the framework and its uses, as the courses progress.
The reason behind going through the basics again is that the courses are "open enrollment" and are offered as 1, 2 or 4 day events. Consequently whilst some folks sign-on for the 4 days others will opt for BPF distilled and the workshop, or if they have taken the distilled course in the past, sign-on for just the workshop.
Generally the instructor will assess each class individually and adjust the time spent on revision accordingly, but inevitably some will feel that the repetition is too much whilst others that not enough time has been given to the basics.
The repetitious slides are also used as a review mechanism in order to ensure that the students have the basic knowledge to move forward in their learning.
So it is worthwhile bearing a bit of repetition for the opportunity of gaining a more complete understanding of the subject. You never know what might happen
