I am going to go back in time about my culinary experiences this week. A few years ago I did several rounds of training in Kuala Lumpur. During these trips, I had the pleasure to be introduced to out-of-the way and unusual (at least for me) delights by Rose Rauf, who was the TM Forum’s representative for that part of the world. I found out recently that Rose has departed this good earth and wanted to share one of culinary experiences I had with Rose. During my last trip to Kuala Lumpur, Rose took me on a coastal trek to an outdoor restaurant that is famous for its seafood. I love shell fish of all kinds, and this place did not disappoint. I had a type of clam I never enjoyed before, called a pencil or razor clam…here are a few links to them in memory of Rose and the several treks on which she took me.

Thinking back in time brings to my mind late in 2001 when we started developing the Information Framework (SID). Little did the small team, which had been assembled to start the SID’s development, know the extent to which the SID has been adopted by our industry. With its good points and maybe not so good points, the SID does represent a model that can serve as an “umbrella” for all models that support our industry’s information needs.
Our recent work with 3GPP, during which one of the 3GPP representatives mentioned this, will have us revisiting a technical report (TR135 – SID Harmonization Approaches) which made this point. Here is a link to the report for those of you that are interested…

This leads many of us to see a bright future for the SID!
I’m home this week, then off to Management World Orlando…and, I hope to see many of you there, at which you may be interested in attending one of the many courses offered.
