A Surprise in Dublin

Share |

While in Dublin last week I thought I would experience corned beef and cabbage, a dish that I had several times while on vacation there with Jeannie back in 2005.  Well, I missed that experience, but was surprised when we visited Milano’s, where I had a great pizza experience – the spiciest on the menu called the Francesco Mazzei.  Here’s a link if you want to find out more… http://www.milano.ie/our-restaurants/7779/milano-dublin-grand-canal.aspx

And I was pleasantly surprise when members from several service providers chatted with me about contributions to the Information Framework (SID).  The original SID team’s composition included a number of providers, including Telstra and British Telecom.  So it is good to welcome back providers to our work.  The contributions planned by them are quite large in scope and include developing some new areas of the SID – Contact/Lead/Prospect, Customer Loyalty, Service Test and enhancements to the Resource domain and Customer Bill group of entities.

I’ll be in Sydney, Australia next week and plan to meet with another provider to discuss even more contributions to the SID.

This is great news for the TM Forum and our members.  It demonstrates that the SID, even after ten years, continues to grow and to be enhanced based on member experience in using it.  Who could ask for more!  And, I thank all who have and are contributing to its development, whether it comes from direct contributions, posts on the community.

While in Sydney I’ll be teaching an abbreviated Training Roadshow.  I have plans to visit a small French restaurant with one of my TM Forum member pals!  More on this when I return.

Nice to see the SPs contributing John, that's really the ultimate validation of value in my view.

If you have a chance, I recommend that you pop up to the Oaks Hotel in Neutral Bay while in Sydney. You'll get to grill your own steak, and check out the local crowd.

Hi John,

I couldn't find where to post a question, so I thought I'd just comment on your blog.

Do you know if anyone has published a mapping of SID to Siebel's data model?

Howdy, Murray...I don't know of any published mapping for Siebel and the SID.
