The Tip of the Iceberg

Share |

Those of you who regularly read my blogs know that I like to start with evangelizing about restaurants I have visited on my travels and the food experience I had.  For those of you not familiar with my blogs, this is how I start.

While in Manila, I had to try some local treats.  Some associates and I went to Gerry’s Grill in Makati City where I had, among other delights, crispy pata a simmered pig leg that is then deep fried.  Oh my, it reminded me of my younger days when we would roast an entire pig on a spit at Lake Dallas.  Back then there were lots of crispy bits to try as the pig’s roasting came to completion.  Here’s a link to Gerry’s web site where I enjoyed the crispy pata, which also has US locations…http://www.gerrysgrill.com/.

I am often called on to evangelize TM Forum Frameworx, which is why I was in the Philippines.  And it is easy to do, with its so many uses and the associated benefits.  After I finished my part of the workshop, individual groups were formed to discuss how Frameworx could be used on planned/current projects.  I visited each group as they were working to provide assistance.  And, here is where the body of the iceberg comes in.  There are a lot more members using the Information Framework (SID) than those that are publicized.  One group was interested in and planning to use the (SID) within an Enterprise Service Bus (ESB).

And, over the last two weeks, I have chatted with three other members that are using the SID in a variety of ways.  Another member using the SID within an ESB, one using the new Security set of entities (ABE – Aggregate Business Entity), along with extending the SID to support the undeveloped Resource Topology ABE, and a third using Product and Service domain entities in support of ordering and provisioning.

As I chat with my other TM Forum associates, they bring up more and are often stunned by the number of uses of the SID they hear about.  So, what we have in SID case studies in my mind just represents the tip of the iceberg.  There are many other members out there taking advantage of the SID.

So, if you are a member who is using the SID, but haven’t yet shared your experience, I am more than happy to assist you in preparing a case study that showcases your use of it!  Just send an email to jreilly@tmforum.org or take a look at the web site page that provides a template for you to use, which you can find here…http://www.tmforum.org/CaseStudies/2212/home.html or, make a post to the SID community, which you can find here… http://www.tmforum.org/community/groups/information_framework_sid/forum/default.aspx#?forumoptions=0:1:9:F::

Off to China next week, another of my favorite food havens.  More later.
