    OM in eTOM

I'm new to eTOM and trying to understand the different terminologies in it. From my understanding Order Management handles the complete life cycle of the service order (Order entry to Billing). Typically Fulfillment handles also the Quote to Cash process. I would like to understand the diffences between Order Management and Fullfilment.

    Thanks,

    Patrick,

When you talk about order management are referring to the Level 2 Order Handling processes or the Level 3 Track & Manage Customer Order Handling?

Fulfillment is a vertical process grouping that covers customer, service, resource as well as supplier/partner processes including Marketing Fulfillment. Order Management manages the aspects around the order itself and hands off some of the processing into other groupings.

    Re: OM in eTOM

    John,

I was actually looking at the TAM (Telecom Applications Map) where order managment is defined as "Order Management applications provide a range of capabilities to capture, authenticate and enable the successful implementation of a customer order. They deal with pre-order feasibility determination, credit authorization, order issuance, order status and tracking, customer update on order activities and customer notification on order completion."

Is it correct to say Order Management (TAM) is the application that handles all the activities of Order Handling processes (eTOM)? It would be helpful if you clarify if my understanding is correct.

It could be that I was incorrectly referring to OM as a process and not as an application.

    Thanks,

    Patrick
