    Re: eTOM Process Decompositions

    hi,

in my view eTOM works with three steps:

(1)Process collection: It deals with the requirement of all the process collection which are there to run the system or the organisation.

(2)Process Classification: This is associated with the grouping of processes or classification of processes to various sub-processes.This helps to focus more on single type of problem and tackling them simultaneously.

(3)Process Decomposition: This is the branching of one group processes to various sub processes, its like Tree and its Branches.Stem is the main root and here its main process the branches depends on the priority level and the importance of the process.

So, the whole decomposition process is actually accumulating all the processes and again braching it .

    Re: eTOM Process Decompositions

Hi Mike - my personal view, as a Business Process Architect, is that defining the lower levels of detail is perhaps placing a constraint on implementation. That said, sensible organisations will undoubtedly use this as guidance, which I'm sure will be useful, whereas others may use it verbatim, and may encounter issues trying to follow it to the letter.

Publication of this is not necessarily a bad idea, as it can add additional support to aide implementation, but must come with strong advice on what should and should not be followed to the letter.

@StephenM1: I´m agree with you,  a more detailed decomposition can add an innecesary complexity on the implementation.

The  goal of a process framework  is to bring guidance on how the processes are structured and what are the relations between them. Level 1 and 2 actually presents a good reference in these two objectives.

    Re: eTOM Process Decompositions

I really  to see the decomposed processes to the level of 4,5.
    (my email : hi.park@gmail.com)

I tried during  a year ago. At that time, it was hard to extract unique processes not superimposed between level 3s. I want to share my past practices here.
