What is the Data Analytics Group?

The mandate of the Data Analytics team is to help Service Providers make the best use out of business intelligence and Data Analytics tools in the enterprise-wide activities of Revenue Management.

This team is focusing on bridging the gap between 'raw' Data Analytics technology and the specific business needs of a CSP as represented by the TM Forum Business Metrics§.  Initial focus will be on revenue impacting data such as orders, xDRs, and trouble tickets. The work will include:

  • Taking Data Analytics down to 'the next level' in a CSP using day to day operational tools by developing appropriate best practices and guidelines that support GB935 Level 1-3 Business Metrics and illustrate the use of data analytics in that context. The team is actively seeking more direct CSP participation in identifying and prioritizing critical problem areas for the team’s next round of activities.
  • Detail the approach to using the work of the Business Metrics Group and their Business Metrics Scaffold (GB935).
  • Specifying guidelines for top-down use of directed data analytics from Level 1 Business Metrics by identifying and developing related level 2 Business Metrics that utilize Data Analytics results.
  • If, through the work of the team, a gap is identified in the Level 1 Business Metrics, the team will share this identification with Business Metrics & Scaffold Team and may be asked to develop the needed metric for inclusion in the Business Metrics Scaffold (GB935 6.0).

This team intends to be a Business Metrics Contributing Team, which works closely with the Business Metrics & Scaffold Team. Like all Business Metrics Contributing Teams, they will be trained and assisted in operating within the Business Metrics Scaffold and the process for metrics development.

      What are the deliverables?

      • Develop relationship with new Cable BI team. The 2 teams will co-operate with some shared goals and tasks
      • New workspace to increase awareness of the team's existence and charter
      • New, narrower mission statement and specific short term objectives
