Surveying the Big Risks
When you look at modern Communication Service Providers, which aspects of their business generate the most risk? Is it disruption by newcomers like Google, Apple, and OTT providers, or is it intervention by the good old regulator? How do fraud and security rank? I know what I think, and normally I would just tell you ;) but now the TM Forum wants to know what you think are the biggest risks facing CSPs.
The charter for the ERM team has been approved and you can find it at our project workspace. The first job in the charter is to draft the big question for the big survey on big risk. If we want people to select their top 10 risks, we first need to give them a list of 20 or 30 risks to pick from. I could just write my own list, but they call this an 'online community' for a reason. For the whole of October, you can contribute your thoughts on what risks should be included in the survey longlist. Perhaps you noticed a key risk that is missing from the list, or perhaps you would like to see a better narrative to explain one of the risks already on the list. Chip in and help to ensure we have the best possible survey of comms provider risk by working with your peers through the wiki and the discussion forum. Here come the links...
The draft long list of major risks faced by CSPs. Feel free to add risks you think are missing, or amend descriptions for risks already in the list.
The audience for the survey. Should we cast the net wide or keep a tight focus on risk managers in CSPs?
Risk categories. Contribute your thoughts on whether we should break the survey down by grouping risks into categories. If you think we should use categories, what risk categories would you use - maybe those from COSO, or perhaps some CSP-specific categories that you already use in your company?
Index of the survey pages on the wiki. Should the survey ask more questions? If so, feel free to create new wiki pages to draft additional questions, using the index as the parent.
Do you want to bounce ideas around with peers, before proposing changes to the wiki pages? Then the dedicated thread in the discussion forum is the ideal place to start.
