Developer Network

Not Another App Store!

Share |

With news from Mobile World Congress that “twenty-four of the world’s ‘leading’ mobile operators are joining together to launch an application store that will become a mecca for apps developers and give Apple a real run for its money”, I am very careful not to call the Developer Network soft launched portal an app store.  Read more about that other app store from the Bull in Barcelona here:
http://www.tmforum.org/community/blogs/industry-insider/archive/2010/02/18/bull-in-barcelona.aspx

Clear distinctions between the Developer Network Portal and an app store:

All content on the Developer Network portal:
o   Is free to members

o  Have been developed by member companies for real world implementations

o  Provide strategic advantage to member companies

o  Have maturity ratings, user ratings and numbers of downloads indicators to help user’s assess potential value to their business before downloading

The portal also boasts, an extremely user friendly means of submitting a contribution, you don’t have to wait months for us to decide in a convoluted process whether you should get to make your contribution to the industry or not.  Our contribution mechanism, is as simple as a really short online form, attaching your contribution, and hey presto, within 24 hours your contribution is live on our site as a Maturity Level 1 artefact.  Note, this contribution is then automatically is included in our Development process.
