Looking to get started with TM Forum Frameworks?

Share |

For my next series of blogs I will focus on a number of key TM Forum products that you should familiarise yourself with, if you are looking to get started with TM Forum Best Practises and Standards.  So while some of the detail for some of our products may not be relevant to developers, I will focus on the “getting started” versions of these, so that you will gain contextual information and a flavour of what our Best Practises and Standards are all about.

The first in this series will be TR155, Solution Frameworks Statement of Direction, Release 1.1

The full document is available to download from here:

“To ensure that the Forum's core frameworks keep pace with changes, the TM Forum Board established a project called ‘Blueprint’. The Blueprint project was under the direction of TM Forum staff. It included interviews with numerous companies among the TM Forum members and outside of the membership community about the current and future state of the industry. The gathered findings were socialized across various teams in the Collaboration Program for feedback. This "Statement of Direction" is the Blueprint advice for an evolution strategy for the TM Forum Solution Frameworks. It will cover the Forum's response to key industry trends. alignment with other standards and frameworks such as ITIL, and support for companies who operate solutions (Information, Communications, Entertainment) businesses.”

Release 1.1 is a fix release which addresses many of the comments and feedback received during the Expert Review and Member Evaluation Period. Refer to the Document History section for details.

The document will outline how the landscape of the industry is changing, including IP infrastructure and Service Oriented Architecture.

For the sections that will help developers to see how TM Forum’s Frameworks will be of benefit to you, check out 3.1 Leveraging Today’s Frameworks and 3.2 Impact on Today’s Frameworks.   The TM Forum Interfaces, Reference Implementations and Test Kits (TCK’s) mentioned on page 15, are all available directly from the Downloads matrix in the Developer Network Portal.
