Crossroads in Paris

Share |

Coming out of Management World Americas in Orlando last month, it was clear to me that the Revenue Crunch theme of the conference had ample attention by the attendees and the industry in general.  As the current expansion of the Revenue Management Initiative participation levels (50+% since TAW Baltimore in July of this year) indicates, our new areas of interest and project activity are clearly relevant to the membership.  That being said, it is critically important that the scarce resources we all live with are effectively applied.  This compels the work to be well-connected to "customer" requirements.  Since the Frameworx product is centered around modeling the Service Provider's enterprise, the requirements of Service Providers are critical to effective work planning.

It's with the above in mind that the Frameworx Spotlight is being held Monday and Tuesday of TAW Paris on 16-17 January.  As many SP and other member participants as possible should make a point of actively engaging in this important event.  There will be multiple workshops and requirements presentations, so please be sure to make the time to be there.

Question: you ask that SP participants should engage with the Frameworx Spotlight, but what kinds of engagement are possible? For example, does it mean sitting on roundtable discussions, or is it more of a case of being in the audience? I can't see any public info on how SP reps are chosen (if they are chosen) or whether the sessions will be run as an open house where anyone working for an SP can take part.

My thought here is that it may not be certain that someone working for an SP can really speak on behalf of SPs in general. For example, I wouldn't expect somebody working in fraud management in a cable company to be the obvious choice to set priorities for, say, data analytics in a mobile CSP. The spread of SP reps will influence the advice given. Getting the right spread might be acheived through selective invites of who leads conversations, or it might be acheived by allowing everyone to have their say and hoping/checking that 'everyone' is in reality a wide spread of people from different roles and kinds of CSPs. What's the TMF thinking on how to get balanced input representing a cross-section of perspectives? As an ex-auditor, I'm reminded that you need an unbiased sample to get unbiased results...

Eric:

The Spotlight is  intended to attract as much SP attendance and participation as possible, with the host SP inviting all comers.  There is a detailed agenda for Monday's activities at www.tmforum.org/.../Home.html and for Tuesday's at www.tmforum.org/.../Home.html.
