Since 2000/2001, when we introduced SPRM, I have always used the tried and trusted guideline that is reflective of CRM. Why is what my Supplier / Partner needs to do for me, any different than what I want to do for my Customer?

I see this with SLA, but I do not have a Commitment the covers Products in my CRM layer do I?

Do app stores have strategic value?

Today at CommunicAsia, Analysys Mason analyst critiques efforts in the Indian market around app stores. The following article from Light Reading conveys the details... http://www.lightreading.com/document.asp?doc_id=193214.

Clearly, distributing and retailing regional apps content that's targeted to unique cultures and languages will be difficult for global app stores like Apple's, Google's, and possibly even Wholesale Apps Community.

But, even if running second tier app stores is not a huge revenue maker, what are the relationships worth to the third-party ecosystem of app providers, software developers, and the apps marketplace that service provider's get from being a distributor? Are there synergies to sell this upstream market of customers services because of the relationships developed from having an app store? Can this relationships be leveraged to sell hosting, open API enablers, and other services for use by the apps on devices and related mashup services running the cloud?

I think so. What do you?

- Value Chains
- Digital Media Entertainment & Advertising

The TM Forum 2010-2011 strategic plan describes a new initiative called Enabling New Services. An overview of the initiative and its scope was presented in Forumville at Management World 2010 conference in Nice on 20-May. We are planning a similar webinar for all members to easily attend on Thu 24-Jun at 10:00AM EDT (New York), and for playback after that time.

With both this new initiative forming and the Value Chains project completing its first final draft deliverable (TR156), the TM Forum is making 3 changes to the online community to better support the new initiative.

1) The Value Chains online group is going to remain focused on content distribution topics, serving as the online home of member's interest related to distribution of digital media (IPTV, mobile video, etc.) and customer apps (app stores, wholesale distribution best practices, etc.).

The online group will rename to "Content & Apps Value Chains". Topics for "Digital Media Content will remain.

2) The "Digital Media, Entertainment & Advertising" online group will be retired. Existing discussions, wiki pages, group members, and email subscriptions will be migrated to the Content & Apps Value Chains online group and its "Content & Digital Media" topic.

3) The business-to-business integration (B2B) topic had a home online in the Value Chains community group since Feb 2010. B2B is now a priority scope area for the Enabling New Services Initiative.

We are moving the B2B topic to the Enabling New Services Initiative online group (from Value Chains), and migrating existing discussions, wiki pages, and email subscriptions to the new online group. If you have an email subscription to B2B topic, you should automatically become a new group member and email subscriber in the new location (see below for planned dates for these changes).

B2B planned scope currently focuses on product-oriented B2B trading and operational integration points between CSPs and many types of business Customers and Supplier/Partners. Further refinement and consensus of B2B scope priorities are expected as we consider input from coordination and teamwork with existing projects, the B2B interest group, service providers (e.g., SPLC, etc.), future projects directly related to B2B and the Enabling New Services Initative, and TM Forum products including Frameworx.

These community changes are currently planned to implement starting on Thu 3-Jun and complete by Mon 7-Jun.

If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at sfleece@tmforum.org. If you choose to reply to this online discussion post, please consider that it is shared across several groups and with a large number of email subscribers.

http://collab.tmforum.org/sf/go/artf1392?nav=1

Here's some of my thinking today... These types of traditional B2B trading interfaces are oriented towards product-level business transactions between parties in an established value network, and not necessarily fine grain service-level management operations between many parties (service publishers) in emerging services marketplace. In the latter orientation, I expect services may be syndicated for use at a product-level in a Catalog and Frameworx view, but in a much more dynamic manner than a traditional B2B orientation like RosettaNet which relies on process definition between the parties in the network. However, it's not a clear line for me between the two orientations. The latter may have no or little orientation towards process but more toward atomic service exposure for creative assembly into composite services or app functionality. I'd expect the service management operations will need to be quite discrete with little process context to the third-party.

This ITU-T document John is referring to is actually based on the GB921 Addendum B.

ITU-T endorsed GB921 as ITU-T recommendation M.3050, which was a result of a joint activity through the so called Telecom Management
Collaboration Focus Group of which I was the Vice-Chair.

The GB921 Addendum B document
itself was mainly build around a contribution from Dave Milham.
