GB930 Release 1.0 - The NGOSS approach to Business Solutions

This document briefly states what NGOSS is, why it is important, and then sets out the main characteristics of the NGOSS approach and its benefits in business terms. A commentary is included on the background and rationale for each characteristic.

A solution developed using the NGOSS approach have the following characteristics:

  • It is built on a lifecycle approach using an iterative methodology
  • It is reusable
  • It is model-based
  • It makes use of a federated approach
  • It is policy enabled
  • It is process driven
  • It is contract based.

The audience for this document is the executive in technical management who needs to understand why NGOSS is important in business terms and how those business objectives are related to the technical characteristics of the NGOSS approach.
