The TM Forum Interface Program draws on the results of several prior TM Forum teams:
In addition, input in the area of IP network management is taking from the following (no longer existing) teams:
- IP Network Management (IPNM)
- Services over IP (SoIP)
Co-operative OSS Project (CO~OP)
Specifically targeting the systems 'integration tax' pressure on operators and service providers, five major mobile suppliers have teamed up with the TeleManagement Forum to drive open management standards. Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Huawei, Nokia Siemens Networks, Samsung and Wipro have joined forces to drive implementation of a common architecture for mobile network management.
OSS through Java (OSS/J)
OSS/J is a TM Forum Program that delivers standards-based NGOSS interfaces implementations (OSS/J APIs) and design guidelines for the development of component-based OSS systems. OSS/J technologies provide the foundation for unifying legacy systems and new applications quickly and at low cost.
IPDR
The TM Forum and the Internet Protocol Detail Record Organization (IPDR.org) recently joined forces to integrate the work programs and strategic direction of both organizations. As part of the agreement, IPDR.org will become a key-working group within the TM Forum's Collaboration program.
IP Network Management (IPNM)
The objective for the IP Network Management project is to create solutions for the integrated management of multi-vendor IP networks. Solutions will enable complete flow-through of IP network services from business management applications to service management to network management to the network itself.

mTOP-MTNM
Service provider networks are nearly always supplied by multiple vendors and consist of multiple technologies. Managing this disparate environment presents a large integration challenge for centralized management of the network. The MTNM model provides a single, common solution for managing multi-technology networks (including SONET, SDH, DWDM, ATM, Ethernet and others) and new technologies and network capabilities emerging from ITU SG15 and OIF, including the Control Plane and Ethernet. The team is also working the creation of the supporting OS to OS interface, which will be provide an XML solution set to support inventory management and alarm management based on the current MTNM object model.
mTOP-MTOSI
Service Providers must deliver new services and products more effectively – faster and cheaper – than ever before in an environment that requires inter-working between many different Vendors, Technologies, and Systems.
MTOSI, the Multi-Technology Operations System Interface, is a single standard that provides the “glue” to connect these components together. |
Services over IP (SoIP)
The Services over IP (SoIP) team is focused on meeting an urgent need expressed by a number of service providers to enable a common approach to the management of the access equipment, media gateways and media gateway controllers. This work will draw on the existing advances in this area spearheaded by the Multi-Technology Network Management (MTNM) team and the IP Network Management (IPNM) team. It will also build on the TMF NGOSS Shared Information and Data model (SID) and Business Process framework (eTOM) to produce a specification that will align to the key aspects of NGOSS.
