The actual tax to be paid may be modified by TaxExemptions, that can apply to:
• A Party – for example a war veteran may be granted a partial exemption from purchase tax, to pay 7% instead of 15%, or a voluntary organization may be granted a complete exemption from value-added tax, to pay 0%.
• A Location – for example a disadvantaged neighborhood may be granted a partial exemption from purchase tax, or a tourist zone may be granted a complete exemption from value-added tax.
The TaxExemption will be issued by the same TaxJurisdiction that levies the tax, and will typically be represented by some certificate of exemption that has an ID and perhaps a printed or electronic representation to attest the granting of the exemption.
The amount of the exemption is determined in the same way as the tax amount itself, by simple or complex calculation.
