AI is not enough: Why telcos need an execution layer for autonomous networks.

The telecom industry has invested heavily in AI, yet many deployments remain domain-specific and operationally fragmented, lacking the real-time business context, cross-domain coordination, and operational validation needed for trusted autonomy. This session explores why the next barrier to autonomous networks is not AI insight alone, but AI’s ability to coordinate, execute, and validate actions across complex, multi-vendor environments. Achieving TM Forum Level 4 and 5 autonomy requires a shift from AI as an analytical tool to agentic AI as an execution layer that can turn real-time intelligence into coordinated action, continuous validation, and ongoing optimization. It also requires greater standardization in how agents communicate, exchange context, trigger workflows, and operate across vendor and domain boundaries. Through use cases such as closed-loop network optimization, SLA assurance, and automated incident resolution, we will demonstrate how autonomous agents can detect issues, assess service and customer impact, perform root-cause analysis, trigger targeted testing, execute corrective actions, and validate outcomes in a continuous feedback loop, enabling more adaptive, resilient, and self-optimizing networks.
