Frequently Asked Questions

The Open Digital Framework (ODF) training & accreditation curriculum enables you to earn Skill Path certification badges to align with specific Skill Paths.  This webpage provides information to help with any questions you may have as we migrate to the new Skill Path certifications from the legacy TM Forum Career Certifications.

  • What are the new Skill Paths?
  • Will the existing Career Certification be removed?
  • I have previously taken all the prerequisites for a new Skill Path certification, but I don’t have the right Open Digital Framework knowledge. Do I need to re-sit all the courses again?
  • I have begun a journey to collect a specific Career Certification, will that effort now be wasted?
  • I have taken the prerequisites for the new Skill Path certifications a long time ago, do I need to re-sit the courses?
  • What is the cost to achieve these new certifications?
  • Will all the Skill Paths be available immediately?

What are the new Skill Paths?

TM Forum’s Open Digital Framework (ODF) comprises tools, code, knowledge and standards, developed by TM Forum member organizations. The new TM Forum training curriculum now aligns very closely to the ODF principles and topics. To help industry professionals learn how to use the ODF standards and best practices, TM Forum has introduced a set of Skill Paths, which target specific aspects of ODF.

Will the existing Career Certification be removed?

TM Forum Career Certification badges will no longer be issued. Professionals will keep their existing Career Certification badges, as these still reflect their achievements to date. The new Skill Path certification badges will count as an additional certification (i.e. not as a replacement for the original Career Certifications).

I have previously taken all the prerequisites for a new skill path certification, but I don’t have the right Open Digital Framework knowledge. Do I need to re-sit all the courses again?

All the new Skill Paths require knowledge of the Open Digital Framework (ODF). If you have an existing Career Certification you don’t need to re-sit the courses you completed. However, you will need to update the knowledge you gained in the Frameworx Overview course in order to qualify for a new Skill Path certification. You can do this by taking the ODF Overview course online.

I have begun a journey to collect a specific Career Certification, will that effort now be wasted?

No, it’s not wasted. If you have partially completed an existing Career Certification path, you have until 30th June 2022 to complete your courses and exams and earn the original badge. After this date, we will no longer award the old Career Certifications but you can earn the new Skill Certification instead.

I have taken the prerequisites for the new Skill Path certifications a long time ago, do I need to re-sit the courses?

No, it doesn’t matter when the courses were taken, they are still valid.

What is the cost to achieve these new certifications?

If you have existing Career Certifications or have already taken prerequisites, you now have the opportunity to obtain the corresponding new Skill Path certifications by taking an ODF Awareness course online, available free of charge to these candidates until 30th June 2022. Contact us at [email protected] to arrange enrollment.

Will all the Skill Paths be available immediately?

Not all Skill Paths and relevant courses are available at the time of launch. We are continually working to add more courses and Skill Paths to the course catalog to aid in acquiring the right skills for digital transformation.
