Profile: Institute for Infrastructure Economics & Management Teaching program Our curriculum focuses fundamental issues of infrastructure financing, strategy and policy. Besides general economics of infrastructure based networks and resources regulation as link between jurisdiction and business economic aspects plays an essential role. In cooperation with industry partners we provide in project courses practice-oriented learning of processes and methodology. As a result, our students learn to handle relevant business interrelationships and derive implications for management decisions. Research Areas Our main areas of research focus the link between welfare economics, regulation and corporate strategy. This includes general economic/legal questions of infrastructure finance, planning and strategy as well as related areas as sustainable infrastructure investments or the regulation of resources. Current issues consists e.g. of feasibility analyses of rural broadband supply mechanisms,, the digital divide in the society, the challenge of Network Neutrality, product and pricing strategies for telecommunication companies as well as the sustainable compensation of top-managers and even potential regulatory scenarios for virtual water. Center of Excellence The Institute for Infrastructure Economics and Management has been awarded with a google reseach grant in 2010. Furthermore, under leadership of the institute the European Investment Bank University Research Sponsorship Programme for the “The History of European Infrastructure Financing” from 2011 – 2013 was granted.
