Bringing global connectivity to consumers and businesses through technologies like 5G-SAT and partnerships between telcos and SATCOM providers.

This catalyst aims to solve the problem of terrestrial based service providers and satellite operators being engaged as separate entities by customers to build what should be single services. That separation and engagement approach has prevented offerings of unified customer facing services that can support a digital first experience and unlock greater customer value. A core use case needing this problem to be solved are emergency response scenarios where rescue teams in the field rapidly require full data connectivity in areas where terrestrial networks are either damaged or do not exist. Those scenarios require a single service that is offered in a streamlined digital experience, decoupled from the network technologies needed to make the service a reality. And from an industry perspective, we need to create an efficient IT solution that will allow the providers to collaborate commercially, enabling them to bring better unified services to market and create new revenue streams.
The team plans to build upon Phase II of SATCOM + 5G anywhere, which demonstrated a digital experience for the end customer to rapidly order and activate SATCOM + 5G across the terrestrial and non-terrestrial networks. In phase 3, we are introducing SD-WAN enabled intelligent traffic routing based on latency and coverage requirements of applications, and creating an TMF API based IT solution to abstract the network from the customer facing services to demonstrate unified service assurance, SLA management, and invoicing and settlement between the traditionally separate satellite and 5G operators. In addition, to meet the needs of customers, we will leverage an autonomous network approach to utilize GEO, LEO and MEO orbits in a way that optimizes performance and reliability for the customers.
Although the catalyst backdrop is a natural disaster situation, our objectives extend far beyond emergency scenarios. We're exploring comprehensive use cases demonstrating the potential of integrated satellite and terrestrial networks - from remote oil exploration to agricultural IoT implementations and from maritime cargo to live-streaming of adventure sports. All these scenarios highlight the critical need for adaptive, flexible connectivity solutions that can operate effectively in challenging environments.
The project's core mission is to create an API-driven framework that allows different network providers to collaborate seamlessly. By bringing these infrastructures and services together, we’ll be able to offer customers various richer experiences and value.
This means developing automated revenue models, reducing manual intervention, and creating a more agile telecommunications landscape. Looking ahead, we anticipate this approach will become a standard model for tier-one and tier-two telecommunications providers.
Our catalyst is not just a technical solution but a strategic blueprint for the future of global connectivity - where technological boundaries dissolve, and customer experience takes center stage.
The net result of this catalyst is about enabling powerful and seamless collaboration between satellite and terrestrial operators, resulting in higher value customer facing services with a fully digital experience, unlocking revenue and enhancing customer relationships.
