Telco Cloud Orchestration Plus, using Open API on IoT

Winner! Digital Transformation Asia 2018: Outstanding Catalyst for business impact

In this Catalyst, China Mobile is working with different vendors including Huawei, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), Nokia, and Boco to demonstrate the concept of Orchestration+ for supporting agile services and business development by using the latest technologies and standards such as China Mobile OSS 4.0, NFV/SDN and TM Forum Open APIs.

As the name suggests, Orchestration+ includes not just orchestration, but also service assurance and optimization. This allows communications service providers (CSPs) to execute the entire service life cycle management, from analyzing service requirements, designing the services, preparing and deploying the services and network resources, monitoring and healing the services, to adjusting network resources based on the pre-defined SLAs and KPIs.

A sharing economy use case is used to illustrate this concept. A bicycle sharing company would like to install an IoT device in every bicycle in their fleet for better service provisioning, monitoring, tracking and quality improvement. This Catalyst will demonstrate how Orchestration+ can offer this service to this bicycle sharing company by using China Mobile’s OSS4.0 API, Huawei’s design platform AIDO, Huawei’s orchestration and assurance platform IES, HPE’s NFVI platform, Nokia’s VNFM, Boco’s legacy OSS system, and TM Forum’s Open APIs.
