The TM Forum’s recently concluded Live event in Nice, France, was highlighted by the growing push by telecommunication operators into digitizing their network operations through advanced software platforms and partnerships with technology companies.
Network functions virtualization, software-defined networking, cloud and the “Internet of Things” were central to many discussions, keynote address and educational sessions at this year’s event. RCR Wireless News had a significant presence on site, providing broad coverage of the event and video interviews.
One of the bigger keynote announcements was made by social media giantFacebook, which announced it was joining the TM Forum in a move to increase collaboration with telecom providers and expand its Internet.org initiative. Facebook’s angle in joining the TM Forum is its interest in providing open access to the Internet.org program that is looking to expand Internet connectivity to two-thirds of the world’s population that is not yet connected.

office of the TM Forum, about his vision for the digital business landscape.
TM Forum also handed out awards for its Excellence program, which included winners such as Verizon Communications, China Mobile and Huawei; its Catalyst program; and its Hackathon event, which included a park cleaning implementation.
