Recognizing achievements in igniting industry innovation, collaboration, and growth through co-creation.

Introduction

In 2023, over 50 Catalyst teams co-created solutions to industry challenges faced by communications service providers and their technology partners. These projects were showcased at our DTW23 – Ignite! event in Copenhagen on September 19-21, 2023. This year, there were two sets of Catalyst Awards: the Open Innovation Catalyst Awards and the Moonshot Catalyst Awards.

Open Innovation and Moonshot Catalyst Awards - Winners & Finalists

This award is presented to the Catalyst that effectively addresses future connectivity needs by offering innovative and commercially viable technology solutions utilizing the capabilities of the Metaverse.

Outstanding Catalyst - Business Impact

Awarded to the Catalyst that demonstrates the most compelling business impact & potential.

Outstanding Catalyst - Sustainability & Impact on Society

This award recognizes the team that demonstrates the highest potential to positively impact society and contribute to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Outstanding Catalyst - Showcase

This award recognizes the team that presents the most impactful showcase demonstration, effectively highlighting the innovation, commercial viability, and relevance of their solution to industry concerns.

Outstanding Catalyst - Use of TM Forum Assets

This award recognizes the team that exemplifies the most impactful utilization of TM Forum assets in their Catalyst project, while also quantifying the tangible benefits derived from employing these assets.

Outstanding Catalyst - Business Growth

This award recognizes the Catalyst that showcases exceptional potential for new growth, surpassing the expansion achieved through conventional connectivity offerings. It highlights the effective utilization of digital enablers (such as IoT, CaaS – Connectivity as a Service, ZTP – Zero Touch Partnering, and marketplaces) to drive business growth and success.

Outstanding Catalyst - Best Innovation & Future Techco

This award recognizes the team that has developed the most innovative and futuristic technology solution aimed at driving digital transformation within the industry.

Outstanding Catalyst - Best New Catalyst

For Phase-I/New Catalysts only, this award recognizes the Phase 1 Catalyst team that exemplifies the most collaborative behavior and presents a compelling and innovative solution with the potential to transform the telecommunications industry.

Outstanding Catalyst - Excellence in the application of AI & Automation

This award recognizes the Catalyst that showcases the best utilization of AI and Automation to drive efficiency and growth, all while ensuring sustainable scalability and ethical practices.

Post event - Outstanding contribution to TM Forum Assets

Awarded to the Catalyst team that uses the program to make most substantial contribution to TM Forum’s assets.

Best New Catalyst - Culture & Talent

A new category introduced by the judges at the event itself, to recognize the distinguished focus of one particular Catalyst addressing the key challenge of culture & talent across the industry.

Special mention

Judges wanted to recognize this key Catalyst as deserving a special mention for their outstanding future potential.

Submissions

Submissions for the DTW23 - Ignite Catalyst Awards opened on July 3, 2023 and closed on August 25, 2023. All Catalysts submit an Awards submission form to become eligible for the awards, indicating the respective category(ies) their teams will compete for and providing proof points. Winners & Finalists were announced in the Award Ceremony on 21st September at the DTW Ignite event. Please expand each category above for the details.

Judging

A panel of exceptional industry experts and executives from across global member organizations gathered at DTW23 - Ignite to review and judge the Catalyst projects against specific judging criteria.

How does judging work?

Judges will review the Catalyst spaces, the awards submission forms, and will interact with the teams on-site at DTW23 - Ignite to score the teams for their selected award categories. During DTW23 - Ignite, the judges convened to deliberate on all scores achieved by the Catalyst teams and make the final judgment. The winners were announced on 21 September (as shown above).

How is success measured?

Success is measured on how well the Catalysts communicate the key messaging around the challenge addressed, their Catalyst solution and the potential impact on the industry. In addition, Catalyst teams are required to clearly demonstrate and illustrate to the judges the key aspects of their respective judging criteria unique to their chosen Award category.
