This catalyst addresses a unique opportunity domain that is going to be a hotbed of innovation and disruption in the next 3-5 years. The convergence between 5G and Satellite communication networks is a hot topic and is heavily being specified with 3GPP and ETSI. The industry and the market are putting major efforts in the devopements of such integration from a network perspective and device perspective. However, the OSS/BSS and network management perspective is missing and we propose to cover it from TMForum perspective through this collaboration. The proposed seminal use cases tackle real emerging business needs at a global level for Telcos and SATCOM providers as they both look to capture market share for connectivity services encouraged by higher resilience and reliability requirements. Conceptually, the solution builds on TMF’s Connectivity as a Service (CaaS) paradigm to bring Telco and SATCOM CFSs in a single core commerce layer followed by intent driven automation of the order to activate process. We propose to rely on GSMA network service description templates to better capture the needs from a business customer through the marketplace.
