AI LEAP – Phase II
5G is about to revolutionize the service offerings of a mobile network operator, giving a service platform supporting superfast broadband, ultra-low latency, high availability, and massive machine communications. All service types present very different use cases and needs, and all needing to be assured.
In this Catalyst project we search for an autonomous effective and efficient way to assure 5G, leveraging new operational principles e.g. DevOps, AIOps; and new technology approaches e.g. intent based Management, AI/ML, and virtualization.
We will focus on the use of AI to assure and optimize 4G/5G hybrid networks in order to better deliver those enhanced new services with greater efficiency and with a higher customer satisfaction.
After having done the groundwork for better automation in the first phase, we now look into the use of AI in closed control loops. We want to move from using AI to improve offline processes into actually using new AI algorithms coupled with automatic configuration to optimize the behavior of mobile networks for hybrid 4G/5G deployments in real time.
Continuing from Phase I of this Catalyst we will continue to work closely with the TM Forum AI Management Standards collaboration work-stream and are going to implement and prove the first release of the AI management Standards API.
We will also continue to test drive the TM Forum Data Model and new in this phase test the possible application of Acumos.

AI LEAP explores Cognitive automation for discovery and resolution of service issues using AI for zero-touch, closed-loop, service assurance and data normalization through TM Forum data models. Leveraging machine reasoning supporting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) creates up-to-date network visualization and accurate service models while predicting abnormal behavior to deliver better customer experience.
