AI-Native Blueprint Project
The AI-Native Blueprint Project defines the foundational capabilities, principles, and operational enablers needed to embed AI natively into the architecture and operations of Communications Service Providers (CSPs). Through four focused workstreams—Agentic AI, Security & Governance, Data Architecture, and AI Operations—the project delivers a practical, standards-aligned blueprint that integrates seamlessly with the TM Forum Open Digital Architecture (ODA). It supports CSPs in scaling AI safely and sustainably from experimentation to production, enabling trusted, governed, and interoperable AI at the heart of digital operations.
The AI-Native Blueprint provides a common, industry-aligned foundation for CSPs to safely and effectively adopt AI at scale. It supports all layers of the organization—enabling strategic planners to assess readiness, architects to design AI-native systems, operations teams to embed trusted automation, and compliance teams to ensure governance by design. By harmonizing data, agentic AI, AIOps, and security into one cohesive framework, the Blueprint helps CSPs break down silos, reduce technology debt, accelerate transformation, and unlock new value from their data and systems—making AI adoption more predictable, transparent, and impactful across the business.
To do this we will:
- Deliver a harmonized, industry-validated AI-Native Blueprint that serves as a reference for AI and Data adoption in CSPs.
- Deliver and maintain a digraph, machine readable representation of the blueprint.
- Embed the blueprint as a central practice within ODA, supporting technical and data debt management, and providing a living, continuously updated resource for the industry.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive project roadmap that outlines key activities, deliverables, timelines, and dependencies, ensuring all stakeholders have clear visibility into project progress and upcoming milestones.
- Produce a dedicated validation roadmap that leverages Collaboration Projects, Catalyst projects and Innovation Hub activities to systematically test, validate, and refine blueprint components and AI4X outputs in real-world scenarios.
The AI Native Blueprint project will drive AI adoption in the telecom industry through four key layers which will be managed as workstreams:
- Agentic AI –Defining how AI-powered agents can transform CSP operations.
- Data Architecture– Enabling open, accessible, and high-quality data for AI-driven decision-making.
- Security & Governance – Establishing frameworks to ensure safe and responsible AI deployment.
- AIOps – Supports CSPs in transitioning from experimental AI deployments to robust, production-grade AI operations.
The production and maintenance of the AI-Native Blueprint will be governed against the following principles:
- The blueprint should not provide solutions but stay at the capabilities and principle level.
- The blueprint should collaborate and arrive at a unified outcomes for the AI-Native approach (combined Data, Agentic, Security and AIOps).
- The blueprint work should reverse engineer some of the existing capabilities from the current assets.
- Some capabilities will be contributed by other projects, for example the Agentic will mostly come from Autonomous network, but that does not mean that he AN is now AI.
- The blueprint will be validated by the TAC and then used as a gap and impact analysis tool to identify ODA AI readiness tasks.
- The blueprint will work on a combined roadmap with the ODA to assist in getting an AI-ready ODA.
- Foster collaboration across CSPs, vendors, and integrators, ensuring the blueprint is actionable, production-ready, and aligned with real-world operational needs.
