Intelligent fixed broadband operations

Experience-based operation boost customer satisfaction and improvement

As CSPs seek to expand their residential broadband business, they face three major challenges: slow user growth, difficult experience optimization and low investment efficiency. Some of the root causes include inaccurate information on fiber resource management and the need to fix a high proportion of faults in the field. This Catalyst is developing a solution to help CSPs achieve faster and more efficient development of home broadband services. Based on Huawei’s NetLIVE digital platform, the Trinity Operation solution is designed to deliver comprehensive insights into home broadband users’ preferences, application experience, household value, traffic and behavioral habits. It employs AI modeling to analyze data captured by operations and business support systems (OSS/BSS). CSPs can use the resulting insights to formulate tailored marketing. For home broadband customers who also subscribe to the CSP’s mobile broadband packages, the solution tracks their usage preferences and values to uncover marketing opportunities to upsell. For example, the solution can identify customers who need higher-speed services, such as that provided by fiber-to-the-room connectivity. For home broadband customers who don’t subscribe to mobile broadband packages, the solution enables cross-sell precision marketing based on the customers’ preferences and values in home networks. To objectively evaluate the user experience, the Catalyst is harnessing AI to analyze the customer experience index (CEI) - a measurement standard for home broadband user experience) - and the related net promoter score (NPS). This analysis, which enables CSPs to view the CEI trend for each region, home, service and connection, can be used to identify network equipment, devices and applications that are delivering a poor-quality experience and enable closed-loop management to address the issue. At the same time, Huawei’s digital twin technology enables CSPs to visualize the resources and quality of passive optical nodes, lines, and planes, to help them improve investment efficiency. To that end, the Catalyst is exploring how RFID group scanning and automatic fiber pairing can improve operation efficiency and real-time awareness across a range of use cases, such as service provisioning, port- fiber patch cord change, and inspection. Automated reports can increase operational efficiency and resourcing accuracy, thereby reducing operating costs and increasing the return on investment.
