There is a lack of adequate and quality healthcare services in both rural and urban areas. This problem is further compounded in developing countries which often have a shortage of facilities and personnel. This Catalyst brings together healthcare service providers and telecommunications providers to fill this gap using a digital health ecosystem to provide quality primary healthcare to all. As part of this ecosystem, cost-effective portable healthcare devices together with larger traditional equipment are used to provide a variety of diagnostic tests. Supported tests range from vital signs to point of care blood tests that can screen for all common health conditions and even more complex diagnostics like MRI & CT scans.
The results of these tests will be immediately made available to patients via their mobile phone. Cloud technology ensures users have a secure repository of medical records that can be accessed any time and patients can securely share them with family & friends. Reports can also be shared with a doctor for remote consultation on the mobile phone. Reports can be unshared once the consultation is over, keeping the user in control of his/her data.
This catalyst keeps patients/consumers at the center of the digital health ecosystem and empowers them to take charge of their health and utilize services easily.
