Getting started with ODA
ODA replaces traditional operations and business support systems (OSS/BSS) with a new approach to building software for the telecoms industry, opening a market for standardized, cloud-native software components, and enabling communication service providers and suppliers to invest in IT for new and differentiated services instead of maintenance and integration.
ODA comprises an architecture framework, common language, design principles, and specifications for standardized, interoperable software components and Open APIs.

ODA Component Directory
The ODA Component Directory, is a place for buyers to find software providers of Open Digital Architecture Components. ODA Components are the software building blocks of a cloud native digital service provider’s network and IT systems, designed for plug-and-play interoperability in a standardized deployment environment (the ODA Canvas). The component specifications are under active development by the TM Forum member community.
This is an alpha release of the Directory, based on functional mappings of TM Forum members’ commercial software products to v6 of the ODA Component Inventory (published in December 2022). We recommend viewing the ODA Component Directory with a Chrome browser.
Learn the building blocks of ODA, the concept, the structure, and the business drivers for using ODA Components.
The masterclass is given by Ian Turkinton (TM Forum), Lester Thomas (Vodafone), Gaetao Biancardi (Accenture) and Cece Li (WhaleCloud)
Removing the interoperability complexity through the use of Components and Canvas.
The ODA offers a new, catalog-driven approach to OSS/BSS where the industry defines some of the open interoperability standards through:
- ODA components which are independently deployable pieces of software, typically built out of one or more microservices. They have an “envelope” that provides metadata to describe its core function – for example, rating, pricing, or invoice production, which are all parts of a billing system – and specify which Open APIs it exposes or depends upon.
- The ODA canvas which is a software-defined blueprint for a cloud-native operating environment for CSPs. It provides an execution environment for ODA components and automates releases in a DevOps continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/ CD) pipeline.
