The future of IT operations
ODA provides a modern blueprint for IT operations in the telecom industry, enabling a shift towards more agile, efficient, and cost-effective practices. By embracing ODA principles, CSPs can transform their IT operations to better support the delivery of innovative digital services and enhance customer experience.
Standardized components and APIs
ODA promotes the use of standardized, interoperable software components with Open APIs. This simplifies integration and allows for greater automation of operational processes, such as service provisioning, fault management, and performance monitoring.
ODA Canvas
The ODA Canvas provides a standardized cloud-native environment for deploying and managing ODA components. This includes built-in capabilities for software lifecycle management, observability, and security, reducing the manual effort required for these tasks.
CSPs and cloud providers are developing their own canvases based on the reference ODA Canvas. Vodafone’s version is its TaaS platform, for example, while Deutsche Telekom is developing a canvas called Magenta. Similarly, Orange is using ODA to create its Telco Cloud Factory.
What is ODA Canvas?
To understand the Canvas, it helps to think of components as Lego building blocks. The size of the studs and the dimensions of the blocks are standardized so that they can be plugged together to construct large and unique systems. But to build a city out of Lego blocks, you need a stud board to support the components and supply common services. Imagine an electricity supply in the foundations providing light and power to all blocks that need it.
