The telecommunications industry faces a critical challenge: aligning autonomous network operations with real customer experience (CX) outcomes. As networks scale and become more complex, CSPs must move beyond automation for efficiency—they must automate with intent. This Catalyst establishes an AI-driven service operations centre (SOC) that uses closed-loop control to optimise CX continuously across live, distributed 'brownfield' networks.
Building on earlier phase deployments, the Catalyst is developing a replicable framework for a new operational environment. It applies TM Forum’s Closed Loop Automation principles and Value Operations Framework (VOF) to ensure each automation cycle drives impact. Metrics like CQI, NPS, and perceived service stability don’t just reflect outcomes—they trigger action.
The SOC processes real-time telemetry, customer feedback, and service quality indicators. AI models, including genAI, assess patterns, prioritize actions, and launch workflows automatically. Unlike reactive network operations, this system prevents degradation before users notice it.
The execution model is also a step forward. It integrates maturing technologies like GraphQL, reuses proven assets, and avoids vendor lock-in through open standards and modular design. The team documents lessons learned across deployments to create a knowledge base that supports replication without costly reintegration.
This project doesn’t aim for technical optimization alone. It provides network performance that customers notice—and value. By showing that CSPs can run autonomous networks with direct accountability to the end-user, it redefines what intelligent operations should achieve. The result is a smarter, faster, more responsive network—where automation serves people, not just systems.
