Digital Ecosystem Management Project
The mission of the Digital Ecosystem Management project is to accelerate the ability of our members to design, plan, operationalize and assure new market opportunities through insights, practices and tangible assets. The objective is to enable a structured, scalable approach to pivoting and commercializing new services.
The project enables cross-industry co innovation opportunities and reduces barriers to growing new business.
Get involved: Digital Ecosystem Management project
Watch our introductory video to the Ecosystems theme (previously called Beyond Connectivity) to hear the focus areas of the collaboration projects, and the value they bring through the assets they are creating.
The project is currently enhancing its collaborative program of activities having successfully delivered playbooks and component suites for Connectivity as a Service (CaaS) and for Zero Touch Partnering (ZTP), ecosystem use cases, IoT architecture and component suites. The workstreams of the project are focused on:
Zero Touch Partnering (ZTP):
This is part of the foundations of the digital ecosystem management project. Here the member teams have built and continue to evolve the Zero Touch Partnering suite of use cases, reference architectures, API profile and subsequent APIs and data models to enable automated seamless partnering, reducing the friction of doing business.
Marketplaces:
applies the work of ZTP in a marketplace context. Here the member teams have developed the use cases and reference architecture to demonstrate how to apply partnering in a marketplace context. The team has also built Business Strategies for companies embarking on a marketplace strategy, to help ensure the right business considerations are addressed, thus de-risking a marketplace approach.
Data Collaboration:
This is an applied project of ZTP. It proves and demonstrates how ZTP can be used to generate new business model opportunities in ecosystems through the collaboration of data in a scalable way. The work is also improving and extending the foundations of ZTP to cater for this new business opportunity for telcos.
Connectivity as a Service (CaaS):
The objective is to make consumption of connectivity as seamless, portable, elastic as cloud is today. Here, the team uses intent to realize the connectivity requirements of the customer. The team has produced a series of use cases, reference architectures and API profiles to accelerate the realization of CaaS.
5G Private Networks:
is an applied project of CaaS. Here the member team will demonstrate how CaaS can be used to generate new revenues and business opportunities for 5G Private Networks. This work will also improve and extend the foundations of CaaS to cater for this new business opportunity for telcos.
Metaverse Monetization:
This is an applied project of ZTP and CaaS. Here the member team will demonstrate how ZTP and CaaS can be used to generate new revenues and business opportunities in the Metaverse. The team will also demonstrate how to strategically, and from a business perspective, de-risk the Metaverse opportunities while also exploring the role of the telco for growth beyond connectivity.
Partner Ecosystem Maturity Model:
This new work activity is focused on building the assets required to enable telcos and their partners to self-assess their ecosystem partnering readiness and monitor the maturing of this capability over time. Given the importance of the ability to partner effectively to enable frictionless trading, and create new business opportunities, this work is increasingly important as telcos and their partners explore new opportunities beyond connectivity.
Ecosystem Modelling:
explores how to model ecosystems, including the different role of stakeholders to enable realization of new business models. This team has recently published the Concept to Design Accelerator Framework, which brings together ecosystem modelling, partnering, marketplaces and business architecture – capability and value stream planning to demonstrate how to practically apply these disciplines together to maximize and accelerate the business opportunity, de-risking diversification for growth, reducing cost and maximizing margins.
