IG1105 Implement Wholesale B2B for a Network Operator V0.3.1

  • Maturity level: Level 3 - Team Approved

This Introductory Guide describes business challenge for Wholesale B2B based on the Australian and NZ NBN rollout experiences. The TM Forum has been supporting the development of a “Best Practice Wholesale B2B. The approach utilizes a fixed set of interaction processes to support Qualification, Order Management, Appointing and Ticketing. The more recent implementations utilize a dynamic data model, called a Business Interaction Data Definition so that the same processes can be utilized for different business interactions between trading partners. Best Practice B2B Implementations are now present in the UK, Australia, Japan and New Zealand, with interest growing in other markets. Experiences in the UK have been positive, although feedback after some years of use by Openreach (a NetCo), BT and the other ServCos in the UK indicated issues with managing the lifecycle of products. The UK initiative and development of the base set of B2B interaction processes was led by a UK Telecommunications Industry working group, the NICC and the outputs were contributed back to the TM Forum.
