Best Practice CPE Modelling for Quotation, Ordering, Delivery and Support v1.0.0 (IG1236)

The purpose of this document is to describe solution design best practices for modeling physical devices often described as Customer Premise Equipment (CPE). These best practices consider commercial, fulfillment and maintenance concerns to best inform a domain engineer/designer or architect in leveraging TM Forum Open Digital Architecture (ODA) assets – specifically the Information Framework – to expose and manage the CPE associated with a Provider’s services. This document will help both Catalogue designers and business process designers select the best patterns for representing CPE throughout the lifecycle of a Provider’s solutions. Just as important, this document also describes criteria for assessing when physical goods, even those installed at a Customer Location, should not be considered CPE. These ODA Solution Design Guides are written to provide practitioners with advice and guidance to solve real world concerns inspired by the implementation experiences of TM Forum members.
