Released: Wednesday, January 1, 2014

The business case for Managed Services among the Telecom Service Providers has been clear for a while now. As TM Forum’s Insight research report (Ref: Managed Services for OSS/BSS – TM Forum Insights Research, May 2012) says, demands on upcoming markets, technological advances, and increase in competition and bottom line pressures are driving this business case.

The same report also mentions that approximately 30% of the telecom service providers are unhappy with their managed services vendor for various reasons.

Taking a deeper insight, it is often seen that one of the areas of dissatisfaction is a lack of documented business processes, and hence lack an understanding of business operations at the software system or application level. This implies a lack of clarity in terms of hand-offs and lack of agreed SLAs for specific micro level tasks, resulting in cascading impact on the business.
