IG1220E Workflow – Conceptual Information & Data Model v2.0.0

The purpose of a workflow is to specify “paths” that describe how “something” goes from being undone to done, or raw to processed. This information model is designed to meet a set of requirements for the management of “WORKFLOW”, as a set of information to describe a business process model or a set of objective focused orchestrated operating activities. WORKFLOW as a modeled concept, provides a good starting point to develop feedback and feedforward (control flows) of Closed Loops.

Scenarios you’d find workflows include scenarios of business process modelling, case or context-driven workflows and the hybrid of both, alternatively called “project workflow” – where flexibility is available along the different “paths”. Workflows essentially provide a means to move data/information across different activities.  The concept of WORKFLOW in SID is to enable model various activities in the business process map to deliver specific outcomes implied by value chains and value streams. The purpose of this information model is to enable automate the management of the creation and lifecycle management of workflows as managed entities, and to consummate the capability as part of CLOSED LOOP management.
