IG1123 NFV Readiness: Packaging Virtualized Network Services for Procurerment and Operations R14.5.1

This guide reviews the current ETSI NFV terms which might be used to define NFV packaging concepts used by Service Providers (SP) for procurement, packaging used by suppliers selling NFV capabilities, packaging used to define NFV software modules, and packaging for deployment of software images.

It proposes a best practice interpretation of ETSI Concepts to support SP procurement to facilitate SP Procurement and Operations people move forward immediately with NFV procurement and operations.

It is backed up by material which could be used by ETSI to move their requirements documents from standards for manufacture to standards for operations. This includes a formal UML model proposing how ETSI terms are related to each other, and proposes some resolutions to current ambiguities and gaps.
