Released: Friday, November 1, 2013

Interoperability, or the ability “to create end-to-end solutions by interconnecting components and systems from multiple vendors to form a network,” is one of the most difficult challenges – and opportunities – facing health information systems globally.

Lack of interoperability leads to medical errors, system inefficiencies, redundancy and waste, and patient dissatisfaction and limits the potential flow of new information to scale and create more efficient health systems.
