Product Description

Ericsson Adaptive Inventory, formerly Ericsson’s Granite Inventory, is a key component for service agility in the Ericsson OSS/BSS portfolio. It is used by operators around the world to plan, assign, rearrange and document resource inventory, and is designed to handle every type of communication service, network, architecture, and technology, today and into the future. A comprehensive resource management and provisioning automation solution, Ericsson Adaptive Inventory serves as the window into resource inventory across all operational layers and technologies, streamlining every surrounding business process that depends on an accurate view of how customer services use network resources. Its flexibility and functionality supports an entire operational environment, providing comprehensive and timely information whatever the source, to drive planning, provisioning and assurance.

As most of the existing deployments of Ericsson Adaptive Inventory based solutions target the data management aspects of inventorying network resources, the TMF Frameworx conformance certification for this product has been focused on the TMF Shared Information and Data Model (SID).

First and foremost, this underlines the inventory management aspects of the product. But it is also a reflection of the fact that an Ericsson Adaptive Inventory network inventory data base can support very diverse applications in just about every area of network operations. Such applications may range from network inventory discovery, via provisioning automation and service activation all the way to fraud-management, revenue assurance and other service assurance applications. Since each of these application spaces follow fairly specialized business processes certifying Ericsson Adaptive Inventory for eTOM conformance makes sense only if a specific application focus had been singled out. This would have conflicted with the universal nature of Ericsson Adaptive Inventory as a network inventory product.

In a similar vein, while the product can generally be proven to be conformant with all of the SID, this would have gone way beyond the scope of what the majority of Ericsson Adaptive Inventory applications support to date. As a consequence, a selection of ABE’s and B.E. generally pertaining to network resource management has been chosen for assessing the SID V14.0 conformance of Ericsson Adaptive Inventory. In addition to generally applicable network resource oriented ABE’s and B.E.’s, the SID conformance assessment of Ericsson Adaptive Inventory also included selected entities from:

  • Common Business Entities domain,
  • Engaged Party domain,
  • Supplier Partner domain, and
  • Service domain.

This way Ericsson Adaptive Inventory users have at their disposal a SID compliant network model, which will cover the data uses most commonly seen in the majority of the network resource management applications.
