Dynamic Network Slices Management and Business Models R17.0.1 (IG1152)

The Digital Service market opens up a new horizon where digitalization-softwarization-automation is progressively entering and transforming the whole diversity of economic sectors. This is a unique opportunity for defining and implementing agile business strategies, identifying value creation and cost optimization that benefits all stakeholders interacting in this digital ecosystem.

This document outlines the value of the concept of resource slicing in the digital service market as slicing in 5G will open opportunities for implementing service orchestration frameworks and ecosystem for federated slice service delivery across various technologies platforms, applications and application domains. Autonomics and cognitive capabilities (closed control-loops) for autonomic and cognitive service management (fulfillment and assurance processes) are fundamental to enabling dynamic and intelligent orchestration and federated management of slices across domains and across partners in the ecosystem, with advanced closed loop service assurance.

The approach we chose to illustrate the potential slicing business models and business scenarios of high interest to service providers, verticals, and other potential slice “consumers” in general, is “user stories-driven” approach which resulted in deriving top 13 requirements we described and their mapping with TM Forum assets. This paves the way for recommendations and guidance.
