IG1109 Supporting ITIL through the Business Process Framework V1.14.1

A short introduction to the advantages and techniques for enterprises to get the best of both worlds by applying Frameworx and ITIL simultaneously.

There has been a long-term effort within TM Forum, and in conjunction with itSMF (the trade body whose members support ITIL development) to explore how the Business Process Framework and ITIL can work together, for mutual benefit. A number of reports and documents have been published showing mechanisms and detail on this, and this Exploratory Report is part of this suite of material. Here, the attempt is to focus on how ITIL users, looking to design a working solution around a given area of ITIL, can use the Business Process Framework to assist in this, and to deliver an implementable package that satisfies ITIL requirements and at the same time leverages the process detail available within the Process Framework.

The content in this document is also intended to link with web based presentation material on these issues, and so has been structured to follow the methodology steps being documented in web format. It is anticipated that sections of this document can be linked to the steps presented on the web, and will illustrate how these can apply in use.

Other worked examples are of course possible, and may be added in due course.
