Institut National des Telecommunications
Telecom SudParis (TSP), located in a suburb south of Paris, France, is a twofold institution: it is both a public engineer school, as well as a renowned research facility covering all domains of telecom. Our 300+ researchers, engineers and PhD students represent a significant research task force comparable to main french research facilities. TSP is present in numerous european research projects and conducts also many research studies for french telecom vendors and operators, as well as for public research funds. The school part comprises two public engineer schools: TSP which is a pure telecom engineer school, and Telecom Management which is a telecom-oriented Business school. The campus hosts about 1500 students. The departement of TSP that originated the TMF membership is the Software and Networks department, which is interested in networking protocols, protocol validation and Network and Services Management (this last group being the one relevant to our membership). Our group is interested in new network management paradigms and architectures, object oriented design, GRID management, mobile agents, information models at the Service Layer and QoS management. Service Management seems to us the most captivating challenge nowadays. We designed in this field a completely new Service Management architecture based on polymorphic mobile agents (so-called Management Applets or ManLets) implementing a TOM-compatible information model, and realizing the management tasks following the operator's workflows.
