Agile OSS/BSS Toolkit
Building the future of OSS/BSS with TM Forum
The Agile OSS toolkit provides a range of assets to support architects and other members of the IT community in realizing OSS/BSS solutions based on the latest IT practices which support current and anticipated future requirements of Digital Service Providers.
The TM Forum has released a complete blueprint for a platform for managing a multi-vendor Hybrid / NFV infrastructure as part of its Agile OSS toolkit. The blueprint brings together multiple elements into one set of tools in the TMF070 suite of documents. The suite includes key practical assets such as Open APIs, information models, best practices and deployment guides. Together these provide the standard interface required for multi vendor hybrid deployments. It should be noted that even at the first release this blueprint goes beyond the very basic management capabilities typically deployed with NFV today, and includes items such as:
Together these key capabilities begin to unlock the latent potential of the new technology in a standardised interoperable way, and allows realisation of the long-awaited business benefits.
Integration principles and architectures
|This section contains documents related both to internal integration, but also to technical integration between ecosystems partners with assets such as the Digital Services Reference Architecture (DSRA). An overview of current best practices for internal integration can be found in GB922 API MAP and Ecosystem partnering is more fully covered in the Partnering Toolkit.||Go to toolkit|
|This section contains assets related to the TM Forum TIP program and MTOSI and MTMN standards. Although not recommended for new designs these standards remain in widespread use. And are relavant for some network technologies suchs as SDH, ATM||Go to Toolkit|
|The TM Forum recommendation for all new systems is to base both internal and inter ecosystem partner integration on REST APIs and in particular the TM Forum OPEN APIs contained in this section. The OPEN API portfolio is being actively developed in the OPEN API program and an overview of usage can be found in GB992 API MAP||Go to Toolkit|
Microservices and component architectures
|This section contains Guidebooks and Technical Reports on design using the concepts of component based architectures, microservices and platform architectures. A component approach is suggested described in IG1118 and a management platform example is presented in TR262||Go to toolkit|
Information and Data Modelling
|The primary asset for information modelling is the Information Framework this section of the toolkit contains additional reports and guides.||Go to Toolkit|
|Whilst the core Frameworks have been and continue to be updated to reflect the changes required to support Network Function Virtualization (NFV) this section contains a number of assets that are specifically linked to the OSS/BSS transformation required to support NFV, and in particular hybrid networks. TR262 provides an overview of a hybrid network management platform. [Insert document name] explain the impact to information models of NFV. Ongoing work on the impacts of virtualization is within the ZOOM Project||Go to Toolkit|
Catalog and Orchestration
|This section provides assets that provide best practices for designing architectures based on Orchestration systems and their associated resource and service catalogs. IG1139 provides an overview of orchestration.||Go to Toolkit|
Automation policy and security
|This section provides guides to current practice in automation, and the use and modelling of policies to control automation.||Go to Toolkit|
Charging and Billing
|This section contains best practice guides related to charging and billing and also revenue assurance. Covering the impact of NFV on revenue assurance across the ecosystem.||Go to Toolkit|
Much of the most recent work on Agile Operations has been carried out in the ZOOM Project the key documents from this work are listed in the following table.
