Network Slice Monetization v1.0.0 (IG1179A)

5G is the most revolutionizing advancement in communications technology. 5G is spanning multiple industries, promising to converge business models that enable complex use cases across value-creation ecosystems and it’s the first in wireless access technologies meant to address the massive scalability required for IoT applications.

Enterprise architecture and technology innovation leaders are now seeking to develop 5G strategies that will be commensurate with its availability, coverage, performance and cost in order to substantiate the investment requirement. Many Technology and service providers (TSPs) are still formulating their industry strategies, business models and corresponding use cases.

The prevailing question remains: How does a business maximize returns on 5G? In terms of infrastructure, use cases and revenue generating 5G services. Network slicing is one of the most widely discussed 5G technical capability use cases.

This document is the combined effort of CSPs, technology providers and verticals to explore the Revenue Management impact of 5G, and to help offer basic guidelines on how CMOs, CIOs, IT & Billing Directors must prepare their BSS solutions in readiness for the new services and business models use-case interests. It is heavily driven from a use-case point of view and periodically updated to reflect new requirements and observations. This version of the document uses AR/VR Gaming scenarios to evaluate impact assessment.
